Impact

Each year we report on our activities, reach, and impact. This annual report reflects data collected from our social enterprise partners, who are required to maintain social, environmental, and financial transparency. We ask UNHCR focal points at the country level to review all inputs from social enterprise partners as part of their monitoring responsibilities.

For larger brand collaborations and orders involving collaborative products, MADE51 implements an additional impact measurement system. Social enterprise partners use a standardized production monitoring tool linked to artisan payments, enabling detailed information collection across all locations in which the product is being made. Throughout the order process, focus group discussions conducted by UNHCR and partners monitor progress, allowing for the generation of impact reports. The outcomes of these focus group studies are incorporated into case studies and reflected in our annual impact report.

Impact Reports

Being self-reliant makes me feel independent and proud of myself. Being an asylum seeker, I am grateful for this opportunity to earn on my own. From the small amount, I am able to send my six-year-old daughter to kindergarten. I’m very happy about it.

Contributing to the Global compact & sustainable development goals

MADE51 is supporting the socio-economic inclusion of those forcibly displaced, directly addressing several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Global Compact on Refugees provides a framework that ensures that refugees and host communities are not left behind in the progress towards the SDGs. Aligned with this, MADE51 advances the Global Compact on Refugees’ objective to enhance the self-reliance and economic inclusion of refugees, including the use of innovative approaches and partnerships with the private sector.
